About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Chengdu

Transiting in Chengdu and Shanghai to catch a flight back home

Hello,

I will be travelling to Phuket, Thailand and will be transiting in a couple of Chinese cities on the way back home.
From Phuket, the first flight will arrive in CD City. After an 8 hour layover, the next flight will take me to Shanghai Pudong. After a 19 hour layover in Pudong the next flight will be to go back to Canada.

Will I need a Visa to transit from CD to Pudong?

Yes, you need a visa. Two stops in China limits you to 24 hours transit without visa.

SO this is the itinerary:
1. Phuket, Thailand (HKT) to Chengdu,China (CTU)
Depart from: HKT @ 4:00 AM- April 25th | Terminal 1
Arrive at: CTU @ 8:50 AM - April 25th | Terminal 1
LAYOVER: 7H
*** Might need a VISA to enter Shanghai

2. Chengdu, China (CTU) to Shanghai Pudong, China (PVG)
Depart from: CTU @ 3:50 PM- April 25th | Terminal 2
Arrive at: PVG @ 6:50 PM - April 25th | Terminal 1
LAYOVER: 17H 10M

3. Shanghai,China (PVG) to Toronto, Canada (YYZ)
Depart from: PVG @ 12:00 PM- April 26th | Terminal 1
Arrive at: YYZ @ 2:25 PM - April 26th | Terminal 3

We will be in china for 27H 10M from the landing time of 8:50 AM on April 25th. If we check in before 8:50 AM at PVG will we still be able to leave the China?

It doesn't matter when you check-in. The 24 hours is counted from scheduled arrival time in China to scheduled departure from China. If it's a minute over 24 hours then either you need a visa or you must change your flights.
