About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US Citizen. Do I qualify for the 72hrs or 144 hrs transit or do I still need a visa?

I am going on vacation to the Philippines and I have three extra days to spare and I really want to visit China.

Here’s my itinerary:
Flight 1: LAX to Cebu
Flight 2 Cebu to Beijing on 4/25 arriving at 7p
Flight 3:Beijing to Cebu 4/28 10A
Flight 4: Cebu to LAX on 4/30.

Philippines-China-Philippines obviously isn't a transit of China. It's a visit to China and therefore requires a visa.
