Immigration Trains from Hongkong

Hello everybody,

we are planning to take the train from Hongkong to Guilin. How does it work with the immigration procedure since we need to leave HK and enter China. Will it already be performed in HK?

Would the same apply if we only take the train to Shenzhen?

Thanks so much in advance.

Yes, exactly! The immigration for both HK and mainland will be finished in HK Station before boarding. It is the same for all high speed rides to and from HK.

Thanks for your answer. I just have another question. I will be in China a bit earlier than my friend and I'd like to buy the tickets for the train ride for both of us already before my friend arrives. As far as I have read in the Internet, you need to show your passport when buying the ticket at the counter. Is a copy of the passport of my friend enough or do I physically have to present it?
Thanks again!
