About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visiting Beijing. Just so I am clear.

I need to go from Vancouver to Beijing direct to use the 144 hr free transit. Any stop/or layover inside China prior to getting to Beijing will force me to get a visa, correct?

I can only visit Beijing and/or Shanghai using a 144 hr free transit? No other city is acceptable.

Thank you.

If you apply for 144h twov in Beijing, you are only allowed to visit Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. If you want to go to other Chinese cities after getting 144h twov, you are supposed to apply for a visa.
