Visa free Transit with 2 separate Tickets

Hello !

I will be travelling from Europe via Shanghai to Cambodia. Is it possible to use 72h or 144h Visa Free Transit in Shanghai if i have two separate Ticket - first return Ticket from Europe to Shanghai and the second Ticket return from Shanghai to Cambodia. I would stay max 72 h in Shanghai each way.

You are able to use the free transit in Shanghai. Separate tickets are fine.
