Could I have a free transit visa at Guangzhou on onward journey to Sydney?

If you transit in Guangzhou less than 24 hours, you can get a stay permit and visa is not needed. If you stay more than 24 hours and hold an Indian passport, it is not available and you need to apply for a Chinese visa in advance.
