About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

KIX-CAN-USA

If I, a citizen of the US, traveled from Osaka to Guangzhou. stayed for 72 hours then traveled to the US would I qualify for the free transit?

You don't need a visa as long as your flight from Guangzhou to the US doesn't have a stop in Japan or another chinese city.
