About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

My son and I traveling from San Fransisco to Philippines via Hong Kong by Cathay Pacific

My son and I traveling from San Francisco to Philippines via Hong Kong by Cahtay Pacific and the layover is 8 hours since we are holding US passport, Do we need any visa to go out meeting relatives during our long waiting?

Hong Kong has separate entry rules from mainland china. US Passport can stay 90 days without a visa. It should be no problem to leave the airport for 8 hour layover. My last trip I went to the city for 4 hours.
