HOW TO EXTEND WORKING VISA

Good day

How do you extend your working VISA to another year?
Should you like to extend due to you having a teaching job in China and wanting to teach for another year.

You should first prepare your passport, valid registration form of temporary residence, the application form, a passport-style photo, and work permit, as well as others. And then submit the application to the exit and entry administration of the local PSB to apply for the extension.

I apparently need to go to my previous employer in China and get a release document first.
Is this true?
What do i do if they dont want to give me the release docs? Can they hold them back?
