About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

Have British passport would like to visit The great Wall and Terracotta worrirrors, flying into Bei

I hold a British passport and will be flying into Beijing for four days from Hong-Kong return to Hong-Kong and back to UK . Could I use the 144 days free visa to travel to the Great Wall and also the Terracotta worrirrors

You need a visa. You obviously don't qualify for 144 hours transit without visa because (1) you are not in transit because you fly Hong Kong-China-Hong Kong, and (2) 144 hours twov does not allow you to visit both Beijing and Xi'an.
