I will be arriving PEK from CPH by SAS & transfer to Xi'an by Air China (all terminal 3)

I will be arriving PEK from CPH by SAS & transfer to Xi'an by Air China (all terminal 3). I have the the booking (paid and ticket number) for the flight to Xi'an, but unfortunately they were booked separately from the SAS flight. If I do not have a checked in luggage, can I go directly through the transfer channel (without exiting through the luggage area) at the airport to check in for the onward flight?
