Travel advisory for US citizens

Hi- I plan on using the 72-hour twov in Beijing in transit to Tokyo and I recently heard about a travel risk for US citizens. Apparently there have been arrests or they are denied from leaving the country. Just to clarify I am not Chinese born nor do I have any Chinese ancestry or dual citizenship which I am aware isn’t recognized there. I heard that these are at higher risk. Is this something that I should be concerned about?

As long as your trip qualifies for the free transit, you will be fine. If you are still worried, you can contact the immigration to confirm that beforehand.
