About:Wuhan Tianhe Airport

Traveling from Saigon to San Francisco through Wuhan Tianhe International Airport

I have an 8.5 hour layover in Tianhe International Airport on my trip traveling from Saigon to San Francisco. Do I need to apply for any type of visit (transit or otherwise) if I am not planning on leaving the airport. Will I need to go through customs and do anything with my checked baggage or not since I am flying in and out of the same airport? Thanks in advance.

No, you don't need visa. In addition, you need to go through the customs.
