About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am staying overnight in Shanghai before embarking on a cruise. Do I qualify for a transit visa?

I will be in Shanghai for 30 hours approximately before joining a cruise to Hong Kong and further. Do I qualify for a transit g? if so, can I get one when I arrive at Shanghai Airport? or do I need to apply online before leaving the UK? Is there a cost?
