About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Beijing layover from May 4 1305 to May 8 1625. Is visa required?

We are British citizens and have a layover in Beijing. We will arrive on 4th of May 4 at 1305 and leave for Osaka on 8th of May an 1625. Do we need to apply for a Chinese entry permit?

It depends where you are arriving in Beijing from. If your immediately previous stop is in mainland China or Japan, you need a visa. Otherwise you don't.
