About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

My flight is from Toronto to Sri Lanka with a 2 night stopover in Shanghai. I'm Canadian.

1. Do I qualify for the 72 hour free transit?
2. Do I physically need to register at the police station or does the hotel take care of it?
3. Do I need a Chinese entry permit? I will have the onward flight and electronic visa for Sri Lanka.

1. No as you're eligible for the 144h twov (there's no 72h twov in Shanghai).
2. The hotel will register you.
