I have a layover of 9 hrs in Beijing Capital Airport.

Hi,
Would it make sense to visit Tian’anmen Sq? My flight arrives at 4:40 am and leaves at 13:40?

Yes, it is possible to visit Tian'anmen Square during this layover.
Take airport express to get to Dongzhimen Station first. Then transfer to metro line 2 to Qianmen Station, Exit A. Afterwards, walk northeast around 250 meters to find the destination. The return way is the same.
