You are advised to contact the HK immigration office to inquire that.

I have a Canadian passport and will not be applying for a visa. Would i still need to give them a call? and what would you ask them if i need to call them? Will they place my name on a list for others to see who can and cannot fly into Hong Kong?

If you are worried, you can give them a call. You can ask if one can enter HK in your case. Don't give them your name.
