About:China Visa Fees

I am a US citizen wanting to travel to Shanghai for 6 on a visa-free visit how do I do this?

Do I just book a ticket from San Francisco and show up?

If you want to apply for 144h twov in Shanghai, you need to inform the airlines that you want to use the free transit in Shanghai when you board the plane in your country, and then apply for it after arrival by showing passport and onward ticket to a third country.
