About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

Hong Kong to Beijing high speed G80 train then flight to London

Can we use the 144-hour visa-free arrangement to travel from Hong Kong to BJ Xi (a designated 144 hour visa-free station) then after 2 nights catch a flight from BJ to London?

We have been told by one travel agent that as immigration is done at HK West Kowloon Terminus and as the train stops at several non-free-visa-qualifying cities on the way, we cannot use the 144 hour visa-free system, even though we won't get off the train anywhere between HK & BJ. But I'm not sure this is true, it supposedly covers train passengers and how else could anyone get to BJ Xi station?

The travel agent is correct. The high speed rail does not qualify for 144 hours transit without visa because the immigration process takes place in Hong Kong and not in Beijing.
