Custom declaration

If my shipment is a gift from a friend in China to Malaysia, labeled as a gift, is custom declaration needed for importing that thing?

If needed, how should I do?

It depends on what kind of gifts you are sending. Most of the time, the custom declaration is needed and sometimes you need to pay for the tax.
