About:China Visa Application Procedure and Fee

I book a ticket Australia - Hong Kong - Australia, 15 days trip. I have an Australian passport.

however, I want to go to shanghai for 3 days from Hong Kong in between the 15 days periods.
Can I get the 144 hrs free visa ?

If you go to Shanghai from Hong Kong and then leave Shanghai to Australia, you can get the 144-hour free visa.
If you travel to Shanghai later and then return Hong Kong, you cannot.
