Visa needed for train travel from Mongolia to Beijing, then flying out?

We would like to travel on the Mongolian express from Ulaan Baatar to Beijing, and then fly home to Canada. Does this travel qualify for a 24 hour or 144 hour visa-free transit status, or is a visa required? I see Harbin on your list, but not Manzhouli or Erlihan.
