9 stopping at Taiwan,Japan, South Korea,Japan again before stopping for 1 day in Dalian (China) on 18th March,1 day in Tianjin (China) on 19th March before finally arriving in Shanghai (China) at 4 p.m. on 21st March and disembarking on 22nd March 2019 where we intend to say 2 nights before taking our flight non-stop on 24th March back to the U.K. We intend to take day tours on all three last stopping in China. Do we qualify for a free transits?

What if you don't get off the boat at the first or second stop i.e. making it 2 visits only?

Doesn't matter if you leave the boat (or aircraft), it's still a stop. You need a visa.

RobAccording to Emmanuel from Belgium's response to  Mike from U.K. on 8th Jan 2018 it could be taken that if we do not get off the boat at neither of the other two stops in China before we finally get off in Shanghai at the third and last stop and depart from Shanghai by air back to the U.K. then we would qualify for a free visa. Which one of you is right or am I missing something?David.

There is no free visa. It is transit without visa, you don't qualify and your carrier will probably deny your boarding. But it's up to you to decide if you want to take the risk.

I should have mentioned that we intend staying for a couple of nights in Shanghai before departing - does that make a difference?
