About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

72 hours visa free in GuangZhou or transit within 24 hours with different airlines ?

Dear sir/madam.
We have a world tickets of Star Alliance. We are Australian, we are taking Singapore flights from Sydney to Yangon (Mynamar) via Singapore then Thai airline from Yangon to GZ via Bangkok then Turkish airline from GZ to Europe via Istanbul. We plan to stay in GZ for few days. Are we entitled to 72 hours visa free ? If yes, if we arrive in GZ around 19:50 on 1/4/2019 and depart in GZ around 23:00, what date can we take the flight from GZ? Is there any Chinese official website we can look at the 72 hours visa free in GZ? Can we apply for entry visa in Baiyun international airport of 72 hours visa free does not apply to us when we get there ? If we arrive in GZ around 19:50 via Thai airlines on 1/4/2019 then depart from GZ 23:00 to Europe via turkish airlines on the same date 1/4/2019, do we need visa to collect our luggages then check in ?

Yes, you are eligible for the 72-hour free visa. You can take the flight from GZ before 23:59, 7th, January. You can search “Division of Exit & Entry Administration Department of Public Security of Guangdong Province.” and there is some information about the 72-hour free visa.

The procedures are: Inform the airlines when boarding – Fill an Arrival/Departure Card on the flight - Apply the 72-hour permit – Claim the luggage – Go through the custom - Leave airport.

If you have got the interline tickets, you don't need to recollect your luggage and recheck in.

As we are using different airlines , ie Thai airline from Yangon to GZ via Bangkok then Turkish airline from GZ to Stockholm via Istanbul, it means we could not check in and get the boarding pass for Turkish flights in Yangon. When we arrive in GZ, when apply for 72 hour permit, do they ask for my Turkish flights boarding pass which I dont have yet ?
or if 72 hour permit is not granted, can we apply for entry visa in the arrival if we want to stay in GZ for 72 hours and collect our luggage?
or if we arrive in GZ via Thai airline then depart from GZ via Turkish airline on the same date of arrival , do we need visa to collect our luggage then check in and get boarding pass for Turkish flights ?

You don't need any boarding passes. You just need to print your confirmed e-tickets showing the ticket number, name and flight details.

You won't have any problem when you arrive in China. But when you check-in for your flight to China, it's important that you use the correct phrase, so that you won't confuse the Thai Airways agent. You must say "72 hours transit without visa", and don't say "visa on arrival" or "72 hour visa" or "72 hour permit" or "transit visa" or "entry visa" etc. You must show your onward ticket out of China to the Thai Airways agents. It's not complicated. You don't need a visa. Your will be able to get your luggage if it's not checked through. Just make sure you have enough time for your same-day connection if you are on separate tickets.
