About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

round trip from USA to Osaka with China in between

Hello,
I have a round trip ticket to Osaka from USA where I stop in Xiamen both times. The first stop is only 9 hrs and on the way back to USA it's 24 hrs. I want to explore the Xiamen city the second time, is the 72 or 24 hour free transit better?
Also, I tried to contact my airlines ahead of time about this exemption( Xiamen Airlines), and they had never head of it. Is there a link in Chinese where i can print the information to show the airlines in person?

I don't know why airline doesn't know. Its well used service in the Xiamen hub. As for 24 vs 72, that is determined by length of stop. If stop is not more than 24 hours you are limited to the 24 hour visa free transit, longer gets the 72 hour

Thank you for the help, I'll go with the day pass. I've seen the link before, I sent them the link with the email where I stated my flight information. The airline responded (several times) by saying it wasn't something they deal with and asked me to call the Chinese local government. I was hoping I didnt have to do that. Weird how they did that, anyways thanks again.

It's always a waste of time contacting the airline's call centre. They don't deal with visa issues. Only the airline agents at the airport will check your eligibility when you check-in. There's also no point contacting the Chinese government or the embassy/consulate because you're not getting a visa.
