Can first-timer purchase train ticket online?

Hi,
I read somewhere in a web site states that as part of the standard practice in the Chinese Railway system, all first timer passenger needs to have their personal information verified at the train station before they are able to purchase ticket online. Can you help to confirm if this is true?

Not true, we booked the tickets online, there is no problem to get the tickets at the station.
