About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I have a friend who is a permanent resident in New Zealand but only has a Malaysian passport.

Hi,

We will be in Beijing airport for more than 12 hours and would like to know if there is anything he can do to
go out of the airport in this time as it looks like he wouldn't be eligible for the free transit pass.

If the trip would be country A-Beijing-country B, then you could apply for the 24h twov. No visa would be required then.

I would contact the Beijing immigration as malaysian passport holders are disqualified for the 24h twov.
But on TIMATIC this list of disqualified countries disappeared so nobody knows for sure if Malaysia is still banned for the 24h twov or not.
