Milan - 10h layover in Beijing - Singapore

Dear sir,
I will travel from Milano to Singapore, with a 10h layover in Beijing. I would like to get out of the airport in Beijing. I guess I will have to apply for 24h free transit? How much time does it take to get it at the airport? Couldn't I get the stamp at the chinese embassy in my country before departure?
Thank you very much

Transit without visa cannot be applied for in advance. Only a full visa can which is not cheap for just a short stop. For the entry permit to leave airport It depends on how many people are in line for it, can take 5 min or an hour. Then however long the line is at passport control.
