About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Saigon-Shanghai-New York

I am an American citizen. I will be returning home from Vietnam through Shanghai with a 13 hour layover, and then on to New York, will I be able to get a visa to leave the airport and explore the city?

You can get 24h twov in Shanghai, and if you have hotel reservation, maybe you are able to leave the airport and explore the city.
