About:China Visa on Arrival

Shenzhen VoA via new Hong Kong West Kowloon HSR Immigration?

Hi, it seems Shenzhen VoAs are only available at Luohu (Lo Wu), Huanggang, Shekou and Fuyong ports.

I take it that VoA is therefore not available at Hong Kong West Kowloon High Speed Rail.

I also assume that even if I am alighting at Futian (near Huanggang), there will still be no VoA available to me.

I'll probably have to stick to Luohu/Lowu by train from Hung Hom or bus methods - does this sound correct?

I have found my own answer online.
"Note that if you don't hold a Chinese visa, there is no facility to obtain the special short-term 'Shenzhen visa' at Futian – you must have a Chinese visa before you board the train at West Kowloon station (indeed, you'll need it to pas through the station's Chinese immigration checkpoint).

This is different to the system in operation at the Hong Kong-Shenzhen border crossing of Lo Wu, where many travellers from Hong Kong step off the East Rail Line and take out a single-visit Shenzhen visa on arrival – so if you want to visit Shenzhen but don't have a Chinese visa in hand, you'll need to take the slow train."

HSR passengers must clear inbound Chinese immigration at West Kowloon and not in Futian railway station, and hence they do not and probably will not have a VOA spot just yet. There were never any VOA facilities for slow train passengers either. AFAIK your only choice for the VOA by bus is Huanggang (Luohu is only accessible by subway while the other two are sea ports).
