About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Guangzhou I have an Italian passport.

If I book a flight by China Southern Rome-Bangkok a/r via Guangzhou I don’t need visa because my transit in Guangzhou airport is 3 hours (Rome-Bangkok) and 5 hours (Bangkok-Rome). It’s correct?
