For 48 hours in Shanghai, must I register travel permit at police station or hotel?

I am traveling from Thailand to Shanghai on Nov. 11 (approximately 48 hours including 2 nights at a Shanghai hotel) to Tokyo on Nov. 13 (1) must my confirmed ticket to Tokyo showing seat number be printed out or is it okay on my phone (2) when I get my transit permit on arriving in Shanghai airport, must I register it with police station within 24 hours or can I register it instead at my Shanghai hotel?

You don't have to do it at the police station. You can register it at your Shanghai hotel.
