Apply for China Visa in Chicago Vs Washington DC

applying for china visa - live in kentucky but DC China Embassy is over 10 hours away - will be flying to Beijing China from Chicago, IL - can I apply for China Visa at China Consulate in Chicago, IL instead?

I'm afraid you cannot do that. You need to submit the application to the DC China Embassy in your residence area.
