China visa application from New York

Hello
My colleague holds a Turkish passport but works in New York. He is invited to attend a conference in Beijing next month. As such, he will apply his China visa from The USA.
He has a business invitation letter from the sponsoring company. Please confirm if an invitation letter of Duly Authorized Unit from a government agency in China is further required. If so, in what way he can obtain such letter?
Thanks

Hi, I think the invitation letter of Duly Authorized Unit from a government agency in China would be required. You can contact the China embassy to confirm that. If they say it is needed, then his company can get the invitation for him from any of these units: Municipal Foreign Affair Office, Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Foreign Economic Relations & Trade Commission, International Trade Promotion Commission or Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau. Hope it helps.
