LAX stopping in KMG and PVG then on to BKK

Hi,
LAX to KMG w/ a 12-hr overnight layover, then on to BKK with 2-hr transit only in PVG. Is it possible to stay the night outside of the airport in Kunming using TWOV?

You can try to apply for the 24h twov and you are allowed to stay the night outside of the airport in Kunming.
