On Oct 31 our train for Shanghai departs around 8am - do you think this is enough time to get to the train station from our hotel paiyunlou?

You are advised to spend one night in the hotel near the railway station. From the hotel to the railway station, you have to first take the cable car and walk to the foot of the mountain, and then take the tourism bus to Tangkou where you can take the bus to the railway station. It is quite inconvenient and costs much time. You'd better go to the railway station one day in advance so that you can catch your train at 08:00am.
