US Citizen Arriving in Shanghai via Thai Air from Kolkata Indida to Board Holland America Westerdam

We are flying from Kolkata India via Thai Air to Shanghai to board Holland America Westerdam on October 29. Westerdam is in port until October 30. There are no stops in any other Chinese City. Cruise ends in Hong Kong from where we will fly back to US. Do I need a Visa for the less than 24 hours we are in Shanghai?

You are eligible for the free transit in Shanghai, and no visa will be needed.
