About:Transfer in T3 of Beijing Capital Airport

Beijing capital airport I to I Transfer in Terminal 3 without luggage

I shall be flying on Air China from Frankfurt to Hong Kong, with a 3 hour stopover in PEK. I shall be carrying hand luggage only, no checked bags.
Do I need to go through the baggage reclaim area to my next departure gate, or is there a more direct route within Terminal 3?

No, you don't need to go through the baggage reclaim area. For international to international transfer, the procedures are the following:
Flight Arrival - Transfer Procedures - Border Inspection - Security Check - Custom Inspection - Waiting & Boarding
