Can I do the following route and enjoy 144 hours visa free policy?

1. London to Shanghai (arriving on Monday morning)
2. Then to Tokyo (departing Wednesday evening)
3. Tokyo to London

Yes, you can if you have booked the air tickets and only stay to move and leave from Shanghai.
