About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

If I travel from U.K. To Seoul (South Korea) then on to Shanghai (for 5days) then back to U.K.

Am I able to use/get 144 hour free entry to China.

UK > Seoul > Shanghai > Seoul > UK requires a visa.

UK > Seoul > Shanghai > UK is eligible for the transit without visa.
