About:144-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

We fly in to Beijing (from UK) for 3 nights before a 12 night cruise which ends in Singapore.

Similar questions asked before but clarity wanted.
Cruise itinerary is - Fukuoka - Japan, Taipei - Taiwan, Hong Kong, Hue - Vietnam, Ho Chi Mihn -Vietnam.
We plan to stay 2 nights in singapore before flying back to UK.
Just wanting clarity that 144 hour visa will work with the cruise stops.
Do we apply for anything here in Uk or is it all done at the airport on arrival?
Many thanks for any help.

If you stay to move in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, and also take the cruise from these three areas, you are able to enjoy the 144 hours' visa free policy and don't need the visa.

Thank you for your reply.
Do we sort it out at PEK? What documents do we need to ensure we have with us?
The 144 hr is a free visa?
Thanks again

You're not getting a visa, so there's nothing to pay for. You are "in transit without visa" and you must tell your airline this at the airport in UK. You must also show them your confirmed onward ticket. When you arrive in Beijing just follow the signs for 144 hours transit without visa, fill in a simple form and present your onward ticket again (and ideally have hotel reservations including hotel telephone numbers handy too).
