About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Airline retirees getting off a cruise ship having to wait 24 hours for standby flight

Our ship docks in Shanghai on Saturday AM, but flight home leaves at 12:20, too early, according to cruise personnel. Do we need a visa waiver to wait 24 hours? Can we get one with standby tickets?

You need a confirmed ticket for transit without visa. Standby is definitely not allowed.
