About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

If I'm arriving in Shanghai from HK and then depart from Beijing to Chicago, will 72hr Visa be valid

Will I be eligible for the 144 hour rule and will still Visa be valid through my arrival in Shangha fly to Beijing and then on to Chicago? Or will 72 hours twov be granted

You are not eligible for 72 or 144 hours. Two stops limits you to 24 hours unless you have a visa.

Singapore-Shanghai-Hong Kong-Beijing-Chicago on non-stop flights will clearly work. No need to call immigration for that.
