About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Seoul --fly--> [Beijing --train--> Shanghai] --fly-->Cebu

Hi, me (British) and my partner (German) are flying from Seoul to Beijing arriving on 14th Nov 2018 12:30 P.M. We fly out of China from Shanghai on 17th Nov 11:20 P.M to Cebu (Philippines) . Can we take advantage of the 72 (144?) hour free transit? by the way, We will take the bullet train to move from Beijing to Shanghai. Does it matter if we are entering and leaving from two different airports/cities ?

You must either get a visa or change your plans. Beijing to Shanghai is not allowed under 144 hours transit without visa.

I think I can be covered with the 72 hour twov as well because the clock starts ticket at 12:00 mid night of the following day of arrival. So my 72 hour start 15th Nov 12.00 A.M. I am more concerned if moving between the cities Beijing/Shanghai is allowed (flying to Beijing and leaving from Shanghai) ?

Beijing and Shanghai no longer have 72 hour twov, only 24 and 144 hours. Two stops in China immediately limits you to 24 hours unless you have a visa. It's quite clear that you must get a visa or change your flights.
