About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visa Hong Kong.

As an exchange student in Hong Kong, would it be possible to fly HK-Bejing-HK, or does the third country need to be different (example Taiwan)?
And if not would this route be okay: Hong Kong - Bejing - Macau?

HK-Bejing-HK is not a transit at all, and it won't qualify for the free transit in Beijing. HK-Beijing-Macau will be fine.
