About:Shanghai Travel

Hi, I am traveling from MNL to EWR with a 6-hour layover in Shanghai Pudong Airport.

I have been seeing older comments that I would need to claim my baggage and re-check in my baggage to transfer for my flight to EWR from PVG. Is this is still the procedure?

My itinerary:
MNL to PVG via China Eastern
PVG to EWR via United Airlines

In addition to above question, do I need to secure a transfer visa?

Thanks!

Generally, you need to claim your baggage, but you are suggested to conform it with your airline. See whether if they have luggage check through service.

Since you just transit in SH less than 24 hours, you don't need a visa and just applying for a stay permit in the PVG airport is enough.
