About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Family of six with a 13 hour stop-over in Pudong from Norway to New Zealand

Hi.
My wife and four daughters have Norwegian passports, and I have a New Zealand one. Do we need a visa if we stay in the airport the whole 13 hours?
Also, is it possible to get a visa for a day trip into Shanghai for example?

Your trip qualifies for the 24h twov in Shanghai, but leaving the Shanghai airport is no longer possible if your layover is less than 24 hours regardless of nationality. If you do not intend to leave the airport then you are fine. Otherwise you are advised to apply for transit G type for that trip beforehand.
