About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

does a transit free visa apply when you arrive by cruise ship in Shanghai and leave by air to the US

We are in a cruise from multiple cities in Japan and S Korea arriving in Shanghai. We are flying home from Shanghai changing planes in Beijing to San Francisco. Does this itinerary qualify for a transit free?

If your total layover time in Shanghai and Beijing is within 24 hours, you can get free transit. Otherwise, you need to apply for transit visa for that.
