About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

Fly UK to Shanghai 3 days, cruise to S. Korea then Beijing 3 days, S.Korea then Japan

Do I need a visa, please?

You won't need a visa for Shanghai, but you need to apply for one for the layover in Beijing.
